Getting Ready for the 2008 NFL Draft

The NFL Draft is a time of the year when fans of sucky NFL franchises can get excited about football. The draft gives teams with losing records a chance to turn their franchise around with some solid scouting and drafting. Unless you're the Niners, and you end up trading away your top pick to the New England Patriots, then get docked a draft pick because you got caught tampering with Lance Briggs' contract.

The San Francisco 49ers have 6 draft picks this year, with their first pick being the 29th overall pick. The Oakland Raiders have 5 draft picks, but only one pick within the first three rounds.

Round 49ers Raiders

Daunte Culpepper signs with the Oakland Raiders

Daunte Culpepper has signed a 1 year deal with the Oakland Raiders. It was not announced that Culpepper would be given the #1 spot. He will likely have to compete for the starting position among the other Raider QBs at camp, including Andrew Walter, Josh Mc-Who-are-we-kidding... Culpepper is the starting QB.

The Raiders top draft pick and #1 overall JaMarcus Russell has not been signed to a contract. Russell has been holding out and has not reported to training camp. Andrew Walter is a third string QB, at best. Josh McCown might have a half decent chance to start on some NFL teams, but I'm not drafting McCown on my fantasy football teams.
