Who would of thought the Golden State Warriors would be on pace to win 50 games? What are the chances of the Warriors winning 50 games and still not making the playoffs?
No one and possible!
With a 42-25 record, the Warriors are holding the 8th spot in the West ahead of the 40-28 Denver Nuggets.
If the Nuggets win the rest of their games, they would finish with a record of 64-28. To stay in the playoffs, the Warriors would need to finish 65-27 with their only two losses coming against Denver.
Since the chance of either of these scenarios occuring is super small, then we can say a combination of 13 Warriors' losses and Nuggets' wins will guarantee the Warriors a spot in the playoffs assuming the teams below Denver has no chance in hell to make it. (e.g. Portland, Sacramento, etc)
The remaining schedule for the Warriors is:
vs Rockets (W)
at Lakers (L)
vs Lakers (b2b) (W)
vs Blazers (W)
at Nuggets (W)
at Mavericks (b2b) (L)
at Spurs (L)
at Mavericks (b2b) (L)
at Grizzlies (W)
at Hornets (W)
vs Kings (W)
vs Nuggets (L)
vs Clippers (W)
at Suns (L)
vs Sonics (W)
I see the Warriors finishing this stretch with a 9-6 record.
The remaining schedule for the Nuggets is:
at Nets (W)
at Raptors (L)
at Grizzlies (b2b) (W)
vs Mavericks (L)
vs Warriors (L)
at Suns (W)
vs Suns (W)
vs Kings (W)
at Sonics (b2b) (W)
at Clippers (W)
at Warriors (W)
at Jazz (L)
vs Rockets (b2b) (W)
vs Grizzlies (W)
The Nuggets have an easier schedule and I can see them finishing this stretch with an 10-4 record.
The final records would be Warriors at 51-31 and the Nuggets at 50-32.

RE: Countdown to the NBA Playoffs
How the heck are the Nuggets going to beat the Suns twice???
I also doubt the Warriors can beat the Hornets.
