Summer League

Marco Belinelli is a Bust

Marco Belinelli is officially a bust.

I had been a big fan of his when he was drafted and lit up the Summer League a year ago.  He seemed like a dead-eye shooter.  Instead, he turns out to be a streaky shooter with an unorthodox shooting form with no defense whatsoever.

Rather than working to improve himself in the Developmental League during the season, Belinelli sat himself on the bench and played less than inspired ball in the few minutes he was given to showcase himself.

Summer League #5 - Warriors vs Knicks

The Warriors scrubs held up pretty well against the Knicks regular season bench in this game. Patrick O'Bryant actually showed up in this game. He was active on defense with four blocks and a number of altered shots. Powell also did his thing, coming in to put up 15 points with 9 boards. The Warriors actually had the lead going into the fourth quarter; but, the game started to turn sloppy. Whether it was tired legs on the backend of a back-to-back or the fringe players--realizing this may be their last chance--pressing too hard, the Warriors handed the Knicks the win.

Summer League #3 - Warriors vs Spurs

Notes:

- Belinelli with a couple more 3s and a nice drive
- POB getting manhandled down low again
- Belinelli really needs to work on defense, getting back, and not telegraphing his passes.
- Spurs White making Belinelli work for his shot with his length; showcasing Belinelli's skill in moving without the ball

Summary:

Warriors looked flat on a back-to-back. Spurs able to get off any shot they want on the outside and inside. Warriors rotation in the zone and transition defense was slow and lazy.

Offensively, Josh Powell did real well, playing within himself. Marco Belinelli got off a couple 3s but was quiet for the most part.
